Advantage
#1 of blue light filter lenses: Stop
squinting in order to focus! Blue light filter glasses do not just shade your
eyes like most sunglasses do, but they also filter out blue light rays on the
spectrum. This allows only light rays that are easy to perceive to enter the
eye. The result is improved image definition and contrast!

Healthy
Eyes
What’s the effect of blue light
on the body? Blue light
has many harmful effects on the eyes, but perhaps the most damaging is
the gradual oxidation and deterioration of the macula. Most eyewear on the
market filter out harmful UVA/UVB/UVC rays. Blue light is the next color on the
visible light spectrum next to UV and, while not as harmful, is still in a
category called HEV (High Energy “Visible” light). Exposure to this light can
cause dry and red eyes, blurred vision, macular degeneration, and even trouble
sleeping.
Really? Troubled sleep? When the sun goes down and there are fewer
blue rays entering the eyes, the body begins to actively produce melatonin and release
it into the bloodstream. Usually, this occurs around 9:00 PM. As melatonin
levels in the blood rise sharply, you begin to feel less alert and sleep
becomes more inviting—unless you are
still using digital devices that emit high levels of HEV light! To help
avoid insomnia, put away the devices at least 1 to 2 hours before sleeping.
